E-Commerce on the Rise
In-Home Inventory Management
The goal of this project was to develop an innovative housewares item. For this project I chose to tackle the issue of inventory management for people running e-commerce businesses from their home. I chose to design a desk that also served as a full scale storage and fulfillment space for home e-commerce businesses.
Objective
The main function of this product was to be able to display inventory numbers above each drawer on the desk. The desk also features a tenting device to place shipping polymailers. This tenting mechanism allows for easier grab of polymailers in a pile.
The desk also features 3 plug-ins, a wireless phone charger, and a large enough work space for computers and label printers.

After initial research the next step in development process was hundred of sketching ideations to help develop form.

Poly Mailer Tenting Development
A key component to this working station was to develop a mechanism to speed up order fulfillment. Poly Mailers and other shipping bags do not come in a rolling out manner so I developed a tenting mechanism that made grabbing each bag one by one much easier.
Electronic Inventory Tracking
The PRO-DESK features a touchscreen inventory tracking system. This function features a display screen above each storage container that allows you to keep a number on your inventory you have in each drawer.

The Process
Market analysis was critical. Many of which included identifying the market space for which this product would thrive. Many different market analysis methods were conducted.
Sketching ideation was also a huge part of this process in order to get an idea for how this production would really get into its form or shape. Sketching also helped me begin to understand basic function.
Basic modeling was next in this stage and involved cheaply throwing together some models to really just understand how the true sizing of this desk would work. Through this stage I worked with modeling out different functions of the desk such as sizing and the poly mailer tent.
CAD modeling and rendering was the final stage. Putting this all together into clean and well represented renders to really show the full spectrum of this desk was essential to finishing up the project.
